YOKOHAMA FERRIS WHEEL

The Minato Mirai 21 area (Yokohama) is not only a business and shopping area. It is also a romantic leisure place. Minato Mirai 21, center of Yokohama, is directly linked to Shibuya (center of Tokyo), and is one of the very few places in Tokyo-Yokohama where seashore is directly accessible and not blocked by industrial facilities. As a consequence, lots of tourists and romantic lovers come to enjoy its unique seashore-concrete blended atmosphere.

YOKOHAMA LANDMARK TOWER

This is a night view on the Minato Mirai 21 area located in Yokohama. "Minato Mirai 21" litteraly means "Harbor Future 21" and gathers famous buildings. One of them (left side of the picture) is the Landmark Tower : the tallest skycraper in Japan with 295.8 m. It contains the second fastest elevator in the world (12 m/second or 45 km/h). The building offers a five stars hotel (floors 49 to 70), and restaurants, shops, offices, clinics and so on from floors 1 to 48. On floor 69, the so-called "Sky Garden" is an observatory from where you can enjoy a 360-degree view on Yokohama.

TAMAGA RIVER SIDE

The Tamagawa river sides is a lovely place where you can feel in town and in the country side at the same time. Here and there, you can see fishing spots and soccer / tennis / golf /baseball grounds... Areas designed for children to play are also available. If you look carefully, you can also discover snakes (the good ones) passing by near the river... And if you look at the horizon line, you can contemplate both buildings and Fuji-san !

TOKYO TOWER

If Eiffel Tower is a significant symbol of Paris, Tokyo also has a very similar tower in shape, but much mor younger. Opened in 1958, Tokyo Tower is 333 m tall and weights 4000 tons (almost a half of Eiffel Tower). It is painted in orange and white according to the Civil Aeronotic Law : 28 000 liters of paint ! Four analog waves and 10 digital waves are transmitted from the Tower. Illumination are different depending on the season : orange light in winter and white incandescent light in summer. After 10 years in Tokyo, I never went to its top...
